Questions people actually ask
Skeptical is the right starting posture for "an AI is texting me." Here are the real answers.
Am I talking to a robot?
After the pilot business and model gate are activated, AI may draft a suggested reply from bounded conversation context. A person at the business reads, can edit, and must approve each substantive business reply before it can be queued. Only narrow, fixed consent and opt-out confirmations are excepted. The business and pilot support must answer AI-use questions accurately.
Why did I get a text from this number?
Because you contacted the business (text, call, voicemail, or their website form), or you agreed to updates about a project. If neither is true, someone may have typed a wrong number - reply STOP for the fastest direct opt-out path, then tell the business it has the wrong number.
How do I make it stop?
Reply STOP to any text. That's the fastest direct path - you'll get one final confirmation (carriers require it), then no more business texts. There's also a web form; that request takes effect only if we can verify the business code and accept it. Stopping texts never affects your service.
Will the AI ever send something the business didn't see?
Not for a substantive business message. There's no autonomous-sending mode to misconfigure. The only automatic customer-facing messages in this pilot are narrow, fixed consent or STOP confirmations. Every substantive business reply must be approved by an authorized person before it can be queued.
Does approved mean the message was delivered?
No. Approved means an authorized person approved the exact message. Queued means it is waiting to be sent. Provider accepted means the messaging provider accepted the send request, not that the phone received it. Delivered appears only after a later verified delivery receipt.
Is it reading everything I've ever texted?
It sees only your conversation with that one business - the same thread the business owner sees on their phone. It has no access to your other texts, contacts, or anything on your device.
Is my information being sold or used to train AI?
No and no. We don't sell personal information, and your conversations aren't used to train shared AI models. Your mobile opt-in data is never shared with third parties for marketing. The privacy policy describes the pilot's intended processing and the gates that must clear before live data.
What if the AI gets something wrong - a price, a date, an address?
The approving person is responsible for reviewing the content, and the business is accountable for what it approves. If something is wrong, reply or call the business. The pilot must preserve the tenant-scoped draft, final content, approval actor, time, and separate provider result for an activated business.
Can I just talk to a human instead?
You can call the business using the contact path it provides. Managed-number voice behavior and forwarding must be verified before activation; a text thread is not an emergency service. Choosing not to receive texts does not make consent a condition of purchasing service.
Is this secure? What about my documents and photos?
The pilot uses TLS in transit, tenant-scoped role checks, redacted logs, and audited approvals. Live data remains disabled until at-rest protection, off-box backups, restore proof, retention, and incident procedures are approved. A person at the business must review and approve an invoice or pay-link delivery action before it can be queued; provider acceptance and delivery remain later outcomes.
What is this company, and what do I do if I have a complaint?
OwnerSwitch is an invite-only pilot used by some residential electrical businesses for texts, calls, and owner-approved invoices. For anything about your project, contact the business - it is their conversation. For the messaging service, email support@ownerswitch.com. Privacy concerns: privacy@ownerswitch.com. Pilot monitoring and escalation are verified before activation.
